Dalia Quay

Style: Realism, Impressionism, and at times, Surrealism.

Mostly my artwork focuses on real-life paintings, with distinctive attention to detail, while bringing my unique touch of lively colors onto the canvas. My work reflects dynamic moments of culture, landscape, nature, animals, and people. My heart, and my personality, are both reflected in each piece of work, which I take great pride in sharing with the world.

Artistic Education:

I am a self-taught artist, with absolutely no formal training. Since early childhood, I have enjoyed drawing people, nature, animals & capturing old historical events. My artistic abilities are inherited from my mother, a true artist & an architect. In addition, I inherited wonderful qualities from my father, a well-known engineer, and a creator of great important projects.

Inspiration:

My favorite art book is “The Bible in Pictures”, which was engraved more than 500 years ago. Peter Paul Rubens. Rembrandt. Marc Chagall. I get inspired by culture, people, music, landscape, nature, animals everywhere, and all the time. I have fallen in love with many beautiful & interesting sites of Mississippi, which I look forward to capturing by using my skills with paint and brush. My true belief is that creation has absolutely no limits!

Art Teaching Experience:

Throughout my life, from elementary/middle schools, kindergartens/preschools, to private classes, I have taught & influenced numerous children to express their feelings and thoughts through art – it brings me great satisfaction.

Background:

Born in Romania, and raised in Israel, I was trained and certified as a designer & technical drafter in Civil Engineering/Architecture. Living in California, I was trained and certified as a Contractor/ Designer, completing numerous beautiful construction projects.

Artist Statement:

Painting and drawing feel like dancing at times and caressing at times. I am dancing with leaves, trees, water, architecture, people, and nature. I am caressing a person, a face, skin, and creating a portrait. There is love transferred into every piece of art – the love for art and creativity.

As a teacher, I hope to plant the seed of love for art into each of my students’ hearts. This seed will grow into the confidence to try any method of art, expression of any thought, wish, desire and self-confidence in themselves and their own unique creativity. Later in life, this sprout of confidence, trust, and love will reflect in every aspect of life.

My greatest satisfaction is to hear a three-year-old tiny student, saying “Look, look, I made it!”, or to hear my eleven-year-old student saying “I learn so much about myself while I draw”.

I am a true advocate of teaching through art and creativity. Art classes are essential to our children’s development, therefor I dedicate my free time to volunteering to enhance the student environment and develop new project ideas.

Personal Thoughts:

“I am fascinated by Mississippi’s magical nature sites, culture, history, architecture, and people! I hope to capture every little bit of it on my canvas!”
